Work published in Copper Nickel has appeared in the Best American Poetry, Best American Short Stories, Best Small Fictions, and Pushcart Prize anthologies, and has been listed as “notable” in the Best American Essays anthology. Copper Nickel publishes a broad range of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and writing in translation, with a particular—but by no means exclusive—interest in work that considers sociohistorical context.
Issue 26 features three translation folios:
an excerpt of Norwegian poet Paal-Helge Haugen‘s “bullet-pointed novel” Anne, translated & introduced by Julia Johanne Tolo; a long poem by Franco-Algerian poet Samira Negrouche, translated & introduced by Marilyn Hacker; & three poems by Austrian poet Elisabeth Schmeidel, translated & introduced by Stuart Friebert;
